Also known as fecal transplant or stool transplant, this term refers to the process of transferring fecal samples (with its bacteria and metabolites) from a healthy individual into a person with an unbalanced microbiota. Although this procedure has been proven to be effective in treatment of Clostridioides difficile infection, its use has not yet been authorized in a general basis. Experts continue working on this technique, and no consensus has been reached so far on its potential adverse effects.
